OverDrive eBooks and Audio Books

Please check that the eReader or portable device you are purchasing is compatible with

OverDrive. Click on this link "Information about devices" and if the eReader or portable

device you are looking at buying is not on the list then it is not going to work with OverDrive.

Please note that although the kindle is listed, it is only compatible in the US and not New Zealand.

Please ring and talk to library staff if you are unsure.

 

OverDrive is a free digital media platform which allows you to download e-books and audiobooks. Members of Westland District Library can access OverDrive through the
South Island Downloadable Zone - a consortium of a number of South Island libraries, which includes Hokitika, Greymouth and Westport
The South Island Downloadable zone currently has a selection of adult fiction e-books and audio titles.New titles are regularly added.
 
 
ACCESS OVERDRIVE NOW.

 

We have added some Advantage titles to our OverDrive website and over time the collection will increase. These are titles that are only accessible to Westland District Library patrons, in addition to the titles available to all consortium members.
 
Remember you will need to sign in with your Westland District Library card number and password if you want to be able to see and access these exclusive Westland
District Library titles. If you do not sign in you will only see the titles shared by all consortium members.
Once signed in, those that are exclusive to our library patrons will have an advantage symbol, like this one:od-adv_sunburst_170

To see all the advantage titles, scroll down on the OverDrive homepage and on the left hand side under "Featured Collections" click on "All eBooks or "All Audios". You will see everything including the Advantage Collection. Please make sure you have signed in first.

  

What you will need:

An internet (or wifi) connected computer or mobile device (NB: you cannot use computers in the library to download OverDrive titles, but you can use our wifi to download to your device)
  • A Westland District library card and password
  • You need to supply us with an email address so when you put a hold on an item, you can be notified by email when it becomes available
  • To download the free software for your computer or Mac: Adobe Digital Editions (eBooks) and/or OverDrive Media Console (audiobooks) - available from the OverDrive downloadable media homepage.
  • To download the free software for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or Android - available from the Apple App Store or Android market . OverDrive's Audiobook app is also linked from OverDrive's homepage.
